UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — June 16, 2020 — Heading into the 2020-21 season, NBC unveils a fall lineup capitalizing on strong incumbency and momentum following a number of multi-year pickups for stalwart shows, including “New Amsterdam,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.” “Law & Order: SVU” and “This Is Us.” Featuring gripping dramas that include “Manifest,” fan-favorite comedies “Superstore” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and unrivaled alternative programming, including the return of coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani and host Carson Daly on “The Voice,” the network’s fall schedule sees 16 returning shows, and one new drama with “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

“Thanks to the ingenuity of our creative teams and our partner studios, NBC has assembled a remarkably stable schedule at a time when stability is called for,” said Paul Telegdy, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “With the reopening of the Universal lot for select productions this week, we are confident that our schedule will premiere intact later this fall. We design shows for longevity and this schedule remains a powerful propulsive force for shows to start here and carry on entertaining across generations.”

Telegdy continued, “Our brand has always championed positive programming, and the events of this year have allowed us the time to take pause, examine our business with a new lens and take some immediate action. Since many of our writers’ rooms have not yet opened, we are taking this opportunity to offer all of this season’s showrunners the chance to enrich their team with an additional diverse writer at any level. It is not the solution by any means, but it is something we can do right now to take a positive step.”

The network will continue to work with NBCUniversal and studio partners on a long-term plan to increase diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our business. In the meantime, NBC will work to increase the overall percentage of diverse talent in this year’s writers’ rooms by funding an additional writer for every scripted show in the 20/21 season. For the third consecutive year, each returning show will also participate in the network’s Female Forward, Emerging Director Program or Alternative Directors Program, all of which provide opportunities for women and ethnically diverse directors in the scripted and unscripted space. While production guidelines due to COVID-19 may impact the programs slightly, the intent of all the above programs remains to provide participants with an in-season episode to direct.

The fall schedule launches a new spin-off with “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” The drama features Christopher Meloni reprising his beloved “Law & Order: SVU” role as Elliot Stabler, who returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss. However, the city and police department have changed dramatically in the decade he’s been away, and he must adapt to a criminal justice system in the midst of its own moment of reckoning. Throughout the series, we will follow Stabler’s journey to find absolution and rebuild his life, while leading a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one.

The pace doesn’t slow as the season continues with several high-profile debuts pairing with huge returning hits to keep the network’s year-round momentum in full swing. Star-studded comedy premieres include “Kenan,” starring Kenan Thompson as a recently widowed host of Atlanta’s #2 morning show who struggles to balance his job and his young daughters; Tina Fey & Robert Carlock’s “Mr. Mayor” stars Ted Danson as a wealthy businessman who runs for mayor of Los Angeles for all the wrong reasons; and producer and star Dwayne Johnson is set for “Young Rock” from Nahnatchka Khan (“Fresh Off the Boat”), in a series focusing on and inspired by the formative years of the global superstar. Fans will rejoice at the return of two favorite series as Jane Levy and the gang are back for season two of “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” and the ladies of “Good Girls” are set for season four. NBC ordered 12 scripted pilots in its last development cycle, with decisions yet to be made due to delayed production schedules.

Both returning alternative hits and new series will also arrive to conquer midseason, led by the fourth season of the Ellen DeGeneres smash “Ellen’s Game of Games.” Joining Ellen in primetime as a master of ceremonies is Jimmy Fallon, who will executive produce and host “That’s My Jam,” a new comedy variety event series inspired by the wildly popular, celebrity-fueled musical segments made famous on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The laughs continue with “True Story,” starring Ed Helms and Randall Park as hosts of a hybrid alternative-scripted series in which everyday Americans sit down to share their most extraordinary and unbelievably true stories for the first time. In the case of “Small Fortune,” big series can certainly come in small packages, especially in this game show where teams of friends and family take on tiny games to win huge money.

NBC tied for #1 for the 2019-20 September-to-May primetime season in the key adult 18-49 demographic excluding sports, and is #1 outright in scripted programming. The network’s schedule is led by television’s #1 series, “NBC Sunday Night Football”; the #1 scripted series in 18-49, “This Is Us”; television’s perennial #1 most-watched summer series, “America’s Got Talent”; and Wednesday’s “Chicago” dramas, all three of which rank among the top 10 dramas on television in 18-49 and total viewers.

Returning shows for the 2020-21 schedule include “The Blacklist,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Dateline NBC,” “Ellen’s Game of Games,”  “Good Girls,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Making It,” “Manifest,” “NBC Sunday Night Football,” “New Amsterdam,” “Superstore,” “This Is Us,” “The Voice” and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.”

Additional previously announced new series include “Kenan,” “Mr. Mayor,” “Small Fortune,” “That’s My Jam” “Transplant,” “True Story,” “Who Do You Think You Are?,” and “Young Rock.”

Kat Dennings to Star in and Executive Produce The Hulu Original Series

Marks Hulu's Third Project with ABC Signature Studios, and

First Joint TV Project for LuckyChap Entertainment and Clubhouse Pictures

SANTA MONICA, CA (Friday, November 2, 2018) - Today Hulu announced a 10-episode series order for Dollface, a new comedy from ABC Signature Studios. The new Hulu Original Series will star actress Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls), who is also set to executive produce the comedy alongside Creator and Writer Jordan Weiss (Harley Quinn) and Showrunner Ira Ungerleider. Additional executive producers include Margot Robbie, Brett Hedblom and Tom Ackerley for LuckyChap Entertainment; Bryan Unkeless and Scott Morgan for Clubhouse Pictures; Nicole King and Stephanie Laing (Vice Principals). Matt Spicer (Ingrid Goes West) will executive produce and direct the first episode.

Dollface is set to begin production in 2019. The comedy follows a young woman who – after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend – must deal with her own imagination in order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women, and rekindle the female friendships she left behind.

"Reading Jordan’s script was like opening a window into my own brain,” says Dennings. “I’m so inspired by the stellar team we have around us and the unique world of this show, especially with Matt Spicer at the helm.”

Dollface will debut alongside Hulu’s growing original comedy slate, which includes the Emmy nominated I Love You, America with Sarah Silverman, as well as upcoming series Ramy, Mindy Kaling's Four Weddings and a Funeral and Shrill.

"Jordan is an exciting, new voice that has something specific and provocative to say about her generation," said Hulu's SVP of Content, Craig Erwich. "As we seek out fresh perspectives and new, thought-provoking projects, Dollface is exactly the type of relatable, yet distinct, series we know our audience will love. We can't wait to work with Jordan and Kat, as well as our partners at ABC Signature Studios, LuckyChap Entertainment and Clubhouse Pictures, to bring this series to life."

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership into television and produce Dollface with such fantastic and collaborative partners as we continue to champion strong and unique female characters onscreen,” says LuckyChap Entertainment and Clubhouse Pictures. “We couldn’t be more excited that Kat Dennings will take on this incredible and complex character.”

The series marks Hulu’s third project with ABC Signature Studios following the recent pick-up of the highly-anticipated Little Fires Everywhere, as well as the first joint TV production project for LuckyChap Entertainment and Clubhouse Pictures, who together recently produced the award-winning film I, Tonya and who are in active pre-production on the untitled Birds of Prey film at Warner Bros.

Dennings is best known for her co-lead role on the CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls, which ended its six-season run last spring. She recently wrapped production on the independent comedy feature Friendsgiving starring opposite Malin Akerman and Jane Seymour. Dennings was last seen on the big screen in Disney/Marvel Studios' famed box-office hits Thor and Thor: The Dark World. Her other film credits include Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist opposite Michael Cera, Charlie Bartlet opposite Robert Downey Jr., and Judd Apatow's The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Season Two of Seth MacFarlane’s hit space adventure series, THE ORVILLE, debuts Sunday, Dec. 30 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/5:00-6:00 PM PT live to all time zones), following the NFL ON FOX doubleheader. Set 400 years in the future, the series follows The U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship, and its crew, both human and alien, who face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the problems of everyday life. In Season Two, ED (MacFarlane) and KELLY’s (Adrianne Palicki) relationship will take a new turn, while the ship’s crew will meet never-before-seen aliens, face old adversaries the Krill, make first contact with a new civilization and revisit the planet Moclus.

Season Two of this past summer’s No. 1 new series, GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK premieres Wednesday, Jan. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). The hit restaurant makeover series features Ramsay driving to struggling restaurants across the country in his state-of-the-art mobile kitchen and command center, Hell On Wheels, to bring failing restaurants back from the brink of disaster – all in just 24 hours. In today’s social media-driven world, everyone is an amateur food critic, and restaurants often find themselves one bad review away from shutting their doors. So, it’s Chef Ramsay to the rescue. As the clock ticks down, Ramsay and his team transform these restaurants with spectacular renovations, fresh new menus and hope for the future, all building to the end of the 24 hours, when grand re-openings of these restaurants are held for the public.

Following GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK, get ready for the wildest celebrity guessing game ever, when THE MASKED SINGER (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) debuts. Hosted by Nick Cannon, with panelists Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke, this top-secret celebrity singing competition will have everyone asking, “who’s behind the mask?!” Based on an international format, and already a viral phenomenon with over half a billion fans worldwide, the series features celebrities facing off against one another with one major twist: each singer is shrouded from head to toe in an elaborate costume, complete with full face mask to conceal his or her identity. With each performance, the host, panelists, audience, viewers and even the other contestants are left guessing who is singing behind the mask. Although the celebrities’ identities are a mystery, between them they have a combined 65 Grammy Award nominations, 16 Emmy Award nominations, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and four Super Bowl titles. The singers may attempt to throw the crowd off of their scent, while keen observers might pick up on tiny clues buried throughout the show. One singer will be eliminated each week, ultimately revealing his or her true identity. It’s not a “whodunit,” it’s a “whosungit!”

On Thursday, Jan. 3, THE ORVILLE makes its time period premiere with an all-new episode (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following the fifth and final season premiere of GOTHAM (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), which wraps up the beloved series in a farewell event that will focus on Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz) ultimate transformation into the Caped Crusader, as Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) tries to hold together a city on the edge of chaos‎. FOX also has ordered two additional episodes of the hit series, raising the season order to 12 episodes, and bringing the full series order to 100 episodes. Following the events of last season, the fifth season, titled “GOTHAM: Legend of the Dark Knight,” will pick up with Gotham City split amongst Gordon and the GCPD, and some of the most notorious fan-favorite villains, as the heroes try to gain control and salvage what’s left of the deteriorating city. This season will also introduce new villains, including the iconic Bane (guest star Shane West). GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller and executive producers Danny Cannon and John Stephens, GOTHAM follows the rise of Det. James Gordon through a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time. The series, from Warner Bros. Television, stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, David Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Camren Bicondova, Cory Michael Smith and Chris Chalk.

Epic thriller THE PASSAGE debuts Monday, Jan. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following the winter premiere of THE RESIDENT (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Based on author Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy of the same name, THE PASSAGE is an expansive, character-driven thriller written by Liz Heldens (“Friday Night Lights”). Executive-produced by Heldens, Emmy Award winner and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Ridley Scott (“The Martian,” “Gladiator”) and writer/director Matt Reeves (“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “Cloverfield”), THE PASSAGE focuses on Project Noah, a secret medical facility where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus that could lead to the cure for all disease, but also carries the potential to wipe out the human race. When a young girl (Saniyya Sidney, “Fences,” “Hidden Figures”) is chosen to be a test subject, a federal agent (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, “Pitch”) is tasked with bringing her in, but ultimately, becomes her surrogate father, determined to protect her at any cost – even as Project Noah’s work threatens to unleash an unimaginable apocalypse.

FOX Orders Animated Comedy DUNCANVILLE, from Mike and Julie Scully, and Amy Poehler, to Premiere During 2019-2020 Season

FOX ORDERS ANIMATED COMEDY “DUNCANVILLE,” FROM AMY POEHLER AND MIKE AND JULIE SCULLY, TO PREMIERE DURING THE 2019-2020 SEASON

Poehler, Rashida Jones and Wiz Khalifa to Voice Characters of Family Comedy

FOX has ordered the animated family comedy DUNCANVILLE, from Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation,” “Saturday Night Live”) and Mike and Julie Scully (THE SIMPSONS, “The Carmichael Show”), all of whom are co-creators and executive producers on the series. Written by Mike and Julie Scully, DUNCANVILLE will feature the voices of Poehler, who will star as two characters, Emmy Award nominee Rashida Jones (“Parks and Recreation,” “Angie Tribeca”) and Golden Globe nominee Wiz Khalifa (“American Dad!,” “BoJack Horseman”). Thirteen episodes have been ordered, and the series is set to premiere during the 2019-2020 season.

The series centers on the life of Duncan, a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy, his family and friends. Poehler will provide the voice of Duncan and his high-strung mom, Annie, who is constantly trying to prevent her son from ruining his life.

“DUNCANVILLE is one of the freshest animated concepts we’ve seen, and has an insane pedigree of comedic talent across the board,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “We’ve enjoyed a long, incredible run with Mike and Julie, and everything Amy does is pure genius. Having the voice talents of Rashida and Wiz join her makes this show the complete package. I can’t wait to have them all together when we add DUNCANVILLE to our growing animated slate.”

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Universal Television, DUNCANVILLE was co-created by Mike and Julie Scully and Amy Poehler, through her Paper Kite Productions, who executive-produce with Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment.

Hosted by Nick Cannon, with panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke, THE MASKED SINGER is a top-secret celebrity singing competition that will have everyone asking, “who’s behind the mask?!” Based on an international format, and already a viral phenomenon with over half a billion fans worldwide, the series features celebrities facing off against one another with one major twist: each singer is shrouded from head to toe in an elaborate costume, complete with full face mask to conceal his or her identity. One singer will be eliminated by the audience and judges each week, based on their performance, and will then reveal his or her true identity. It’s not a “whodunit,” it’s a “whosungit!”

Produced by Endemol Shine North America, THE MASKED SINGER was developed for the U.S. and is executive-produced by Craig Plestis (“Minute to Win It,” “The Winner Is”). Izzie Pick Ibarra (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Breaking Pointe”) also serves as an executive producer, and Alex Rudzinski (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Grease: Live”) directs. Nick Cannon, Nikki Varhely Gillingham and Rosie Seitchik serve as co-executive producers. THE MASKED SINGER is based on the South Korean format created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp.
