DAVID SLADE SIGNS ON TO DIRECT ANTON’S PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER BASED ON SARA GRAN’S COME CLOSER

Academy Award® nominated and Golden Globe® winning Michael London to Produce

Anton announced today that its upcoming thriller Come Closer will be directed by David Slade (Black Mirror: BandersnatchHard Candy, “American Gods”).  The film, which is based on the novel of the same name, is penned by the novel’s author Sara Gran (“Berlin Station,” “Southland”). Come Closer, which follows a young architect who may be the victim of demonic possession or simply may be losing her mind, will be produced by Academy Award® nominee Michael London (Sideways, The Visitor, Milk) and Sara Gran. 

Anton is fully financing, executive producing and handling worldwide sales. Recently appointed as EVP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions, John Zois, negotiated the deal and will oversee the project for Anton.

Slade most recently directed the revolutionary choose-your-own-adventure movie Black Mirror: Bandersnatch for Netflix. Slade is best known for his films Hard Candy (starring Patrick Wilson, Ellen Page and Sandra Oh), 30 Days of Night (starring Josh Hartnett and Melissa George) and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, as well as the television shows “American Gods” and “Hannibal.”

Gran has written for the tv shows “Berlin Station” and “Southland” and written pilots for HBO, TNT and Cinemax, among others. She's also published six novels, most recently The Infinite Blacktop. Her novel Come Closer was published in 2003 to overwhelming critical favor.

London most recently produced Farming starring Kate Beckinsale and directed by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, which premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.  He received a Golden Globe® award for Best Picture in the comedy category for Alexander Payne’s Sideways and is currently working on Showtime’s Golden Globe® nominated “SMILF,” SyFy’s “The Magicians,” and FX’s “Snowfall.”

Slade is represented by UTA, Anonymous and Casarotto Ramsay in the UK. Gran is represented by WME, Manage-ment and The Nord Group.  London is represented by WME.

Anton’s slate includes Ric Roman Waugh’s Greenland starring Gerard Butler; David Bruckner’s The Night House starring Rebecca Hall; and Chase Palmer’s Naked Singularity starring John Boyega.

REBECCA HALL SET TO STAR IN DAVID BRUCKNER’S HORROR THRILLER THE NIGHT HOUSE

Anton to Finance and sell the David S. Goyer Produced Film in Berlin

Anton announced today that Golden Globe® nominee Rebecca Hall (Christine, The Gift) will star in the horror thriller The Night House.  The film will be directed by David Bruckner (The Ritual, V/H/S,) and based on a script written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (StephanieSuper Dark Times). The Night House follows a widow who begins to uncover her recently deceased husband's disturbing secrets.

David S. Goyer (Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeThe Dark Knight) and Keith Levine (47 Metres Down, “Scream: The TV Series””) are producing under their Phantom Four production company.  Anton is fully financing, executive producing and handling worldwide sales. Harold van Lier, Anton’s President of Distribution, will begin selling the film at EFM in Berlin this week. Endeavor Content is co-repping the U.S. rights with Anton. Recently appointed EVP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions, John Zois, will oversee the project on behalf of Anton. The film is scheduled to shoot in May.

Hall is in production on Warner Bros.’ Godzilla vs. Kong, which is slated for a 2020 release. She will soon begin lensing Passing, which she has adapted for the screen and also marks her directorial debut. Upcoming she appears in Max Minghella’s Teen Spirit and she was recently seen starring in Angela Robinson’s Professor Marston and the Wonder Women.

Bruckner most recently directed the horror thriller The Ritual which debuted at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and was picked up for distribution by Netflix.  His 2007 directorial debut, The Signal, debuted at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.

Hall is represented by Julian Belfrage Associates, WME and attorneys Hansen & Jacobson. Anton’s VP of Development, Laura Wilson, negotiated the deal with Endeavor Content on behalf of Phantom Four.

Phantom Four, which Goyer runs with Levine, is currently in post-production on the horror-thriller Antlers for Fox Searchlight with Scott Cooper directing and Guillermo del Toro also producing. Next up for Goyer is Deeper at MGM with Baltasar Kormakur directing as well as season two of Syfy’s Krypton, and the first season of Issac Asimov's “Foundation” for Apple.
