Los Angeles, CA – January 12, 2018 – Sterling K. Brown, Mary J. Blige, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Issae Rae, Chadwick Boseman, Terry Crews, Yara Shahidi, Danai Gurira, Isaiah Washington, Jacob Latimore, Jay Pharoah, Jemele Hill, Josh Gad, Loretta Devine, Meta Golding, Michael Smith, Tyler James Williams, Sonequa Martin-Green, Judge Greg Mathis and Mike Colter are scheduled to present at the 49th NAACP Image Awards. Performances by Common and Andra Day. Additional talent scheduled to appear include Halle Berry, Mandy Moore, Octavia Spencer, Chris Sullivan, Tracee Ellis Ross, Ava DuVernay, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and more. The all-star celebration will be hosted by Anthony Anderson and will broadcast LIVE from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium at 9pm/8c on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, January 15, on TV One. A one-hour pre-show hosted by Terrence J will air live from the red carpet at 8pm/7c with Tanika Ray as special correspondent.

In addition, the NAACP “Entertainer of the Year” will be revealed. This special honor is bestowed upon an individual within the entertainment industry who has achieved notable success in multiple projects and mediums. The nominees include Ava DuVernay, Bruno Mars, Chadwick Boseman, Chance the Rapper, Issa Rae, and JAY Z. 

As previously announced, actor, producer, and humanitarian Danny Glover will receive the “President’s Award” which is bestowed in recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service. In addition, William Lucy, prominent labor union organizer and leader, will be honored with the prestigious “NAACP Chairman’s Award” which is bestowed in recognition of individuals who demonstrate exemplary public service and use their distinct platforms to create agents of change.

The NAACP Image Awards is the preeminent multicultural awards show celebrating the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors. Winners will be announced during the two-hour star-studded event hosted by Anthony Anderson, which will be broadcast LIVE on TV ONE at 9pm/8c on Monday, January 15, 2018, the federal holiday honoring the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A one-hour pre-show will air live from the red carpet at 8pm/7c.

TV One’s stars of television and film shined brightly at the 48TH NAACP Image Awards, hosted by Anthony Anderson, which aired on the network. Among this year’s award honorees, TV One’s morning news host, Roland Martin, received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Host in a News, Talk, Reality, or Variety Program.

An encore presentation of the show will air on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. EST and 12 a.m. EST. The show will air in syndication February 19th-March 5th. Check your local listings for show times.

The evening began with the live pre-show from the red carpet, hosted by Nischelle Turner and Terrence Jenkins with special correspondents Tai Beauchamp and Chris Spencer.  The casts of TV One’s upcoming original films, “MEDIA” (Brian WhitePenny Johnson JeraldPooch HallChrystee PharrisBlue KimbleDenise BoutteStelio SavanteFinesse Mitchell and Jillian Reeves) and “Hit A Lick” (Tasha SmithLil Mama and Lance Gross) were in attendance. Additionally, “Justice By Any Means” host Malik Yoba made an appearance, and David and Tamela Mann walked the carpet to announce their new TV One show, “The Manns.”

The two-hour live special did not disappoint as the best of Black Hollywood turned out to celebrate. Immediately following, guests joined TV One, in partnership with Ford Motor Company and Creative Artists Agency (CAA), at an exclusive after party held at the W Hotel in Hollywood. Radio One Founder and Chairperson Cathy Hughes welcomed the crowd, followed by a special performance by R&B vocalistFaith Evans.

TV One’s upcoming original film, "MEDIA" premieres on TV One Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. ET. “MEDIA" is directed by Craig Ross, Jr. and executive produced by Radio One Founder and Chairperson Cathy Hughes, Susan Banks, Kevin Arkadie, and Sheila Ducksworth.

2016 Triumph Awards Presented by National Action Network & TV One; Hosted by Tichina Arnold (w/ Fantasia, Nick Cannon, JD, Kandi & More)

Reverend Al Sharpton and the National Action Network along with TV One presented the2016 Triumph Awards at the Tabernacle Concert Hall in Atlanta. Hosted by actress and philanthropist Tichina Arnold, the Triumph Awards recognizes distinguished individuals and corporations in civil rights, the arts, entertainment, education, business and sports. The show was taped in front of a live audience and will air Sunday, October 2 at 7PM and 9PM ET on TV One.

Attorney Benjamin Crump was presented the “Chairman’s Award for Historic and Transformative Service” by Clifton Powell (Saints and Sinners); Larenz Tate (House of Lies) presented the “Triumphant Man of the Year” award to Jermaine Dupri; The “Triumphant Woman of the Year” went to FedEx executive Gina F. Adams, who was introduced by legendary singer Dionne Warwick; actor and recording artist DerekFonzworth Bentley” Watkins was on hand to present the “President’s Award for Service and Humanitarian Efforts” to Sean “Diddy” Combs (who was not in attendance);  Tim Murphy of Mastercard accepted the honor of “Corporate Partner of the Year Award;” and the final award of the evening was the “Activism in the Arts Award” presented to Spike Lee by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Vietta Johnson, President of Spelman College Dr. Mary Schmidt Campbell and actress Teyonah Parris.

Performers included gospel artist Jekalyn Carr, V. Bozeman, Nick Cannon, BJ the Chicago Kid, the James Brown Academy of Music Pupils, Joe, Eric Benet, Juan and Deborah Joy Winans, and FantasiaTichina ArnoldJB SmooveCarl PayneErica Ash and Teyonah Parris also joined forces to perform a “Spike Lee Joint Medley,” a hilarious musical tribute.

Additional appearances by Marc Lamont Hill, Dondre Whitfield, Kandi Burruss, Terri J. Vaughn, Pooch Hall, Denise Boutte, Ebony Steele, Angel McCoughtry; the “Mothers of the Movement;” Gwen Carr (mother of Eric Garner), Lesley McSpadden (mother of Mike Brown) andSybrina Fulton (mother of Trayvon Martin); and Georgia State House Representative Erica Thomas.
